Marist College Canberra invites applications from passionate and visionary educators for the position of Head of Department – Hospitality and Food Technology, commencing in Semester 1, 2026. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to shape and strengthen the future of this curriculum area within a dynamic and values-driven school community. This is a full time and ongoing position from 2026.

<p><strong>As the Head of Department, you will lead a dedicated team of Hospitality and Food Technology teachers in delivering a vibrant, challenging, and inclusive curriculum. You will play a central role in promoting this engaging learning area, fostering a love of hospitality, food, and supporting the holistic development of students.</strong></p> <p><strong>This is an ongoing position commencing Semester 1, 2026.</strong></p> <p><strong>Applications close on or before 4pm, Wednesday 29 October 2025.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>The College&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Marist College Canberra is a Congregational Catholic school for boys (Year 4-12) operating as part of ‘Marist Schools Australia’. Our Middle Leaders must be people of faith who will promote, develop and uphold the vision, charism and Catholic and Marist ethos in every aspect of College life.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities and Qualities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead, support, and inspire a collaborative team of Hospitality and Food Technology educators.</li> <li>Develop and implement innovative, industry-relevant, and effective explicit teaching and learning programs.</li> <li>Ensure the quality delivery and compliance of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs in Hospitality and Food Technology in line with RTO standards and current ACT BSSS frameworks.</li> <li>Demonstrate deep knowledge of the Hospitality and Food Technology curriculum and a strong record of student achievement in Vocational Education.</li> <li>Maintain industry currency and foster partnerships with hospitality and food industry stakeholders.</li> <li>Promote a learning environment grounded in the Catholic and Marist ethos of the College.</li> </ul> <p><strong>The Ideal Candidate Will Have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven leadership experience in curriculum development and team management.</li> <li>Demonstrated expertise in Vocational Education and Training (VET), including current trainer and assessor qualifications.</li> <li>Relevant industry qualifications and/or experience in Hospitality or Food Technology.</li> <li>A deep understanding of competency-based training and VET compliance requirements.</li> <li>A clear vision for the future of hospitality and food education in a modern educational context.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>A commitment to the College’s mission, values, and faith tradition.</li> </ul> <p>Please refer to the Position Description for further information.</p>
