<p><strong>Area Principal - Northern Territory</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Full-Time, Fixed Term (5 + 5 years)</strong></li> <li><strong>Location: Darwin</strong></li> <li><strong>Start: 5 January 2026</strong></li> <li><strong>End date: 4 January 2031</strong></li> </ul> <p><strong>ABOUT US:</strong></p> <p>EREA Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,000 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in Sydney. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses</p> <p>They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology&nbsp;based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe &amp; Legal are embedded. Our special schools serve young people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.</p> <p><strong>ABOUT THE ROLES:</strong></p> <p>Edmund Rice Education Australia operates St Joseph鈥檚 Catholic Flexible School in Alice Springs, and its newly established Darwin campus initiative (to be established) in partnership with Catholic Education Northern Territory.</p> <p>The Area Principal is the delegated leader of multiple Flexible Schools/campuses, each of which will line manage a Head of Campus who oversees the daily operations of the schools. The role is responsible for providing operational leadership and oversight of the relevant schools, and holds delegated responsibility from the Regional Director and CENT representatives in the areas of Safeguarding, Learning and Pedagogy, Risk, Compliance and HR. The Area Principal will also lead in the areas of Flexi Practice, Formation, Identity, Finance, and Land and Infrastructure. The role will also play a significant leadership role in terms of growth in the local area, working in partnership with community stakeholders and the National Leadership Team.</p> <p>The Area Principal is the direct line manager for Heads of Campus, and reports directly to the Regional Director. The role receives significant support from a Regional Support Team, particularly in the areas of Finance, HR, Safeguarding, Risk, Compliance, Learning and Pedagogy and Flexi Practice.</p> <p>In relation to safeguarding, the Area Principal has responsibility for guaranteeing that all staff members possess a clear and comprehensive understanding of their roles and obligations pertaining to child safeguarding. The Area Principal has an essential role in fostering a safe environment for young people enrolled in their school, ensuring clear communication around policies, procedures and protocols. The Area Principal is a driver of cultivating a culture of vigilance and responsibility, emphasizing a collective commitment to child safeguarding.</p> <p><strong>To view the Position Description, please click apply to access our external application portal.</strong></p> <p><strong>KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.&nbsp;</li> <li>Proven senior leadership experience, both strategic and operational, characterised by strong organisational, administrative, communication, and leadership skills, particularly in relation to areas outlined in this position.</li> <li>Able to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structure.</li> <li>Appropriate qualifications (such as in Education Leadership) and relevant professional experience.</li> <li>Ability to diagnose problems, foresee potential issues and devise appropriate responses.</li> <li>Ability to lead, work in, and collaborate across teams with integrity and humility.</li> </ul> <p><strong>WHAT WE OFFER:</strong></p> <p>Our people are our most valuable asset in providing quality Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition to the young people in our schools.
