The Aboriginal Education Officer acts as a key connection between Indigenous students, their families, the school, and the wider community. This role provides cultural, educational, and pastoral support to ensure every Indigenous student is given the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.&nbsp;</p> <p>Key responsibilities include:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Building strong connections with First Nations families and welcoming new families into the school community.&nbsp;</li> <li>Supporting the development and implementation of Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs).&nbsp;</li> <li>Promoting and celebrating Aboriginal culture across the whole school.&nbsp;</li> <li>Assisting with literacy and numeracy support for Aboriginal students, both in class and in small group/individual settings.&nbsp;</li> <li>Encouraging regular attendance, supporting transitions, and exploring career pathways with students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Providing pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance to Aboriginal students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Working alongside teachers and school leadership to ensure culturally inclusive learning experiences.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uYNEQQ-71lq1Jz4wXcj6UC4zDFuCYawi/view?usp=drive_link">For further information about this position, including the statement of duties, please review the position description.</a></p> <p><strong>About You</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p>The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.&nbsp;</li> <li>A strong commitment to the philosophy and values of Catholic Education, including social justice, equity, and reconciliation.&nbsp;</li> <li>Sound skills in literacy and numeracy to assist students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively with staff to support Indigenous students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience in engaging families and community, including in challenging situations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Knowledge of educational issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Strong connections with the local Aboriginal community.&nbsp;</li> <li>A commitment to promoting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the school.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why work for us?&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Celebrate and share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture across the school community.</li> <li>Access to wide range of employee benefits such as Fitness Passport.</li> <li>Work in a collaborative and supportive environment alongside teachers and school leaders.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Us&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>The Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is responsible for 33 schools, approximately 9,300 students and 1,700 staff.
