St Marianne Cope Catholic Primary School is opening in 2026 - we’re seeking a passionate and innovative Performing Arts Teacher to help shape the heart of our new school.
This is an opportunity to build a Performing Arts program from the ground up, fostering collaboration, creativity, and a love of the arts through engaging music and drama experiences that support the growth of the whole child.
<p><strong>Are you passionate about nurturing creativity, expression, and confidence in children through music, drama and performance?</strong></p>
<p>The Performing Arts Teacher will play a foundational role in establishing and leading the school’s specialist Performing Arts program on <strong>Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (0.6 FTE)</strong>, <strong>commencing Term 1, 2026.</strong> This role offers a unique opportunity to design and implement an engaging and inclusive Performing Arts curriculum from the ground up — one that inspires creativity, builds confidence and performance skills, and celebrates student expression. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the specialist team, uphold the Catholic ethos of the school, and align their practice with MACS’ Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Build positive, respectful relationships with students, nurturing their individual talents and supporting their social, emotional, and creative growth.</li>
<li>Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students to explore and express themselves creatively.</li>
<li>Design and implement a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate <strong>Performing Arts program</strong> for primary-aged students, with a focus on music, drama, and expressive movement.</li>
<li>Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that foster creativity, imagination, confidence, and collaboration through performance-based learning.</li>
<li>Support students in developing performance skills and confidence, encouraging participation in class, assemblies, and school events where appropriate.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the specialist team and classroom teachers to support integrated learning opportunities and contribute to the wider school curriculum.</li>
<li>Plan and coordinate performances, showcases or celebrations of student learning that reflect the school’s values and community identity.</li>
<li>Uphold and promote the Catholic identity, values, and ethos of the school in all teaching and professional practices.</li>
<li>Participate in professional learning aligned with the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, and actively contribute to school improvement initiatives.</li>
<li>Play an active role in the establishment of a new school culture, fostering community, creativity, and a sense of belonging as a foundation staff member.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications & Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Relevant tertiary qualifications in Primary Education.</li>
<li>Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).</li>
<li>Experience in teaching Performing Arts at the primary school level is highly desirable.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and families.</li>
<li>Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.</li>
