<p>About the Role</p> <p>The Learning Support Officer will assist the Learning Diversity Leader and/or Classroom/Subject Teachers to allow student access, participation and engagement in the curriculum and provide support for individual students and groups of students.&nbsp; The Learning Support Officer provides direct and indirect assistance to individual students or groups of students under the direction and supervision of the Learning Diversity Leader and Classroom/Subject Teachers.</p> <p>Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:</p> <ul> <li>To provide a commitment to Catholic Education and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children and young people;</li> <li>Under the direction of the Principal (or delegate), Learning Diversity Leader, and/or Classroom/Subject Teachers - carry out student supervision, tutoring and program delivery to individual students or groups of students.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develop an understanding of the specific strengths and challenges of relevant students and offer individual assistance to support them in the development of specific skills</li> <li>Promote communication between students, Subject/Classroom Teachers and the Learning Support Staff</li> <li>Under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and/or Subject/Classroom Teachers, assist with the preparation of student resources, teaching resources and equipment pertaining to the student, or groups of students, with individual learning needs</li> <li>Under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and/or Subject/Classroom Teachers provide basic physical and pastoral care for students and ensure that student requirements are communicated to the appropriate staff.</li> <li>Refer all teacher or parent queries to the Learning Diversity Leader and/or Subject/Classroom Teachers</li> <li>Where appropriate, provide documentation of daily student learning and provide information as requested for NCCD</li> <li>Complete associated administrative tasks for student files, recording progress, recording behaviour and to assist with the preparation of Personal Learning Plans</li> <li>Work collaboratively with staff for all students as required</li> <li>Provide support for students and Subject/Classroom Teachers in the use of assistive technology</li> <li>Participate in Professional Development as recommended or approved by the Learning Diversity Leader and/or Principal</li> <li>Attend camps and excursions as required</li> <li>Attend meetings including Staff Meetings and PSG meetings as directed and other meetings which may arise from time to time.</li> <li>Respect, understand and adhere to the need for confidentiality when working with individual students, groups of students and the Learning Diversity Leader.</li> <li>Stimulate and encourage independence, productive work habits and positive self-esteem with students</li> <li>Observe school rules, procedures, practices and safety aspects, treating all students and staff equally</li> <li>Provide basic first aid when required</li> </ul> <p>Benefits&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Supportive, collaborative and inclusive school community;</li> <li>Region living at its best with strong connections to community;</li> <li>A collaborative and inclusive team that values innovation, partnership, and respect;</li> <li>Excellent professional development opportunities.</li> </ul> <p>Applicants will be required to submit:</p> <ul> <li>Cover letter</li> <li>Resume</li> </ul> <p>For a confidential discussion about the role contact:&nbsp;</p> <p>The Principal by email: <a href="mailto:<a href='mailto:principal@spstawell.catholic.edu.au?subject=Learning%20Support%20Officer%20-%20Integration%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29'>principal@spstawell.catholic.edu.au</a>?subject=Learning%20Support%20Officer%20-%20Integration%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29"></a><a href="mailto:principal@spstawell.catholic.edu.au?subject=Learning%20Support%20Officer%20-%20Integration%20position%20%28via%20Teachers%20On%20Net%29">principal@spstawell.catholic.edu.au</a> to arrange a suitable time for a phone conversation.&nbsp;</p> <p>Applications close 19th September, 2025</p> <p>Applicants must commit to Child Safety by having:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with children</li> <li>A demonstrated understanding of child safety</li> <li>A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children</li> <li>Familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety (e.g. mandatory reporting)</li> <li>Be a suitable person to engage in child-connected work</li> </ul> <p>Guided by our vision of 鈥渢he pursuit of fullness of life for all,鈥 DOBCEL is committed to inclusion and the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children and young people in our care.
