<p><strong>Job description</strong></p> <p><strong>&nbsp;Teaching &amp; Learning</strong></p> <ul> <li>Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum (ongoing staff).</li> <li>For Casual Relief Teachers: deliver set work provided and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.</li> <li>Differentiate teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs and abilities.</li> <li>Foster a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.</li> <li>Integrate digital technologies to enhance student learning.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Assessment &amp; Reporting</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assess student achievement using a range of methods (ongoing staff).</li> <li>Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.</li> <li>Contribute to the preparation of formal student reports and parent-teacher interviews.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Wellbeing &amp; Engagement</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.</li> <li>Promote student wellbeing and positive behaviour through proactive classroom management.</li> <li>Support co-curricular and extra-curricular school programs, including camps, excursions, and events.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Professional Practice &amp; Collegiality</strong></p> <ul> <li>Participate in faculty and whole-school meetings, planning, and professional learning (ongoing staff).</li> <li>For Casual Relief Teachers: engage with colleagues to ensure smooth handover and continuity of learning.</li> <li>Maintain professional and ethical standards consistent with Taqwa School’s values and expectations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Position-specific Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Primary Teacher</strong>: Deliver integrated curriculum across key learning areas, with a focus on literacy and numeracy foundations.</li> <li><strong>Secondary – Science</strong>: Teach across junior and/or senior science, with specialist expertise in areas such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics desirable.</li> <li><strong>Secondary – HASS</strong>: Deliver engaging lessons in History, Geography, Civics &amp; Citizenship, and Economics.</li> <li><strong>Secondary – English</strong>: Teach English across a range of year levels, supporting strong literacy and analytical skills.</li> <li><strong>Secondary – Technology</strong>: Teach Design and Digital Technologies, with an emphasis on practical, project-based learning.</li> <li><strong>Secondary – Physical Education (PE)</strong>: Deliver the PE curriculum, promote health and wellbeing, and support school sporting programs and carnivals.</li> <li><strong>Casual Relief Teachers</strong>: Provide high-quality short-term teaching across primary and/or secondary year levels, ensuring classroom continuity and a supportive learning environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Selection Criteria Essential</strong></p> <ul> <li>Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications.</li> <li>Current registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI).</li> <li>Current Working with Vulnerable People Card(WWVP) .</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in relevant subject areas.</li> <li>Strong organisational and classroom management skills.</li> <li>Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and parents.</li> <li>Commitment to child safety and compliance with legislative and school policies.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities (e.g., coaching, debating, school events).</li> <li>Accreditation in First Aid and CPR (particularly for PE teachers).</li> <li>Ability to teach across multiple subject areas.</li> <li>Familiarity with learning management systems and digital teaching tools.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Child Safety Statement</strong></p> <p>Taqwa School is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children.
