This role involves delivering professional financial support services, assisting School Principals with accounting implications, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Manager Financial Compliance to maintain accurate and reliable accounting records.</p> <p>The Schools Accountant day-to-day may consist of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Provide financial support services to schools, ensuring effective financial management and compliance with external reporting requirements.</li> <li>Assist schools in developing, maintaining, and managing accurate operational and capital budgets.</li> <li>Analyse school budgets versus actual variations and assist in identifying areas for productivity and efficiency improvements.</li> <li>Support schools with all financial processes and procedures, ensuring adherence to CEDB policies.</li> <li>Assist with the preparation and analysis of key financial data, supporting the financial health of schools.</li> <li>Conduct internal audits and provide oversight of financial reconciliations and GST returns.</li> <li>Facilitate the annual budget process and prepare school fee schedules.</li> <li>Participate in financial and administrative improvement projects and champion business improvements at the school level.</li> </ul> <p>For further information about this role, please review the position description <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CguaccPb4aocy8NvgTeCW9jG3EcxOBCs/view?usp=drive_link">here</a>.</p> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p>We are looking for someone who is able to address the following selection criteria:</p> <ul> <li>Degree qualified and/or relevant accounting experience.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 鈥 both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using accounting and computing software packages.</li> <li>Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and to meet deadlines.</li> <li>Hold a current valid driver鈥檚 license and be willing to travel to schools as required.</li> <li>A willingness to support the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition in the workplace.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why work for us?</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work-life balance with a 35-hour work week</li> <li>Salary packaging&nbsp;</li> <li>A chance to work closely with a close-knit and experienced Finance team who support one another鈥檚 career aspirations</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Us</strong></p> <p>The Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is responsible for 33 schools, approximately 9,600 students and 1,700 staff.
